Winner of the Tony and the Drama Desk Awards for Best Book, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee has charmed audiences across the world with its effortless wit and humour. Featuring a fast-paced, wildly funny and touching book by Rachel Sheinkin and a truly fresh and vibrant score by William Finn, this bee is one unforgettable experience. Coming up later on in October 2022, Teatru Salesjan’s resident Musical Theatre Company  Company One Eleven will be performing a rendition of Spelling Bee filled with energy and laughter directed by Denise Mullholand.

For the first round of auditions please indicate the character(s) you would like to be considered for. You will find a PDF of vocal scores for each character in this pack below HOWEVER you do not need to present a song from the musical if you prefer not to (we appreciate that learning songs takes time!).

You can present a song which you feel represents the character you wish to audition for, something that captures their individual qualities and something that shows you at your best. This can be from Spelling Bee or from any other work of Musical Theatre. The song should be no longer than two minutes.

In addition you are asked to prepare a short comic monologue. This should be a contemporary monologue and should be no longer than two minutes. Should you be recalled for a second audition you will be asked to prepare the character’s solo and will be sent sides from the script to present at the audition.

Auditions for 16+

Location: St Patrick’s School Theatre, Sliema 

Date & Time: Monday, 11th July, 6.30pm

Performers who are not able to attend on the stipulated audition date, can send an audition video via email to by Monday, 11th July.
