An old, solid table that dates back to the beginning of the last century, inherited by Sergeant Mifsud, founder of the Salesian Boys’ Brigade, finds its way in all aspects of the life of the Salesian Brigade.

The Salesian Brigade are celebrating their 105th Anniversary by mounting on stage, Lieutenant Joe Camilleri’s play ‘Il-Mejda tal-Brigade’, which was formerly inspired by Tanya Ronder’s dramatic work ‘Table‘.

The play is set in different periods of time which left their mark on the Brigade’s history and on this piece of furniture. The play sees through different epochs and how people act and react in the context.

This production and an exhibition on the history of the Brigade in the theatre’s foyer, were supported by the Arts Council Malta’s Creative Communities fund.

Mejda antika iżda solida li tara snin twal ta’ storja mill-bidu tas-seklu 20, hi ċ-ċentru ta’ preżentazzjoni teatrali li ser titella mis-Salesian Brigade, li din is-sena qed tgħalaq 105 sena mill-ftuħ uffiċjali tal-grupp.

‘Il-Mejda tal-Brigade’ miktuba u b’direzzjoni ta’ Joe Camilleri, Lieutenant mal-Brigade, hi spirata minn xogħol teatrali tal-ingliża Tanya Ronder bit-titlu ‘Table‘.

Din il-play hi maqsuma f’perjodi differenti matul il-105 sena fejn l-element li jidher li jgħaqqad din l-istorja hi din il-mejda. Biċċa għamara kwalunkwe b’marki differenti minn użu tul is-snin. Kull marka bi storja differenti u xi drabi personali. Naraw għalhekk kif nies differenti għamlu użu minn dan l-oġġett li mhux dejjem ingħata l-importanza xieraq.

Din il-produzzjoni, flimkiem ma’ esebizzjoni dwar l-istorja tal-Brigade ġewwa l-entratura tat-teatru, ittelgħu bl-għajnuna tal-fond Komunitajiet Kreattivi, amministrat mill-Kunsill Malti tal-Arti.
