Teatru Salesjan is proud to present its very first youth music festival this November 2018!
Connecting Strings, An International Youth Chamber Music Festival will see the participation of young string players from Sweden, Spain and Malta in a 5-day educational programme celebrating music and collaboration. Through a series of master-classes, rehearsals and concerts, music students from Hvitfeldtska (Gothenberg, Sweden), Southern Youth String Orchestra (Spain), and local students from TS Chamber and MYO ensembles will come together to experience the joy of music performance.
Connecting Strings aims at providing a collaborative platform of professional training and experience for the younger generation of musicians. We hope you will join us in supporting these young musicians as they prepare for this festival with much anticipation. A series of concerts at Teatru Salesjan will also be taking place and will be open to the public.

Connecting Strings – International Youth Chamber Music Festival kicks off at Teatru Salesjan with a free concert packed with chamber music fun by youth musicians from Hvitfeldtska (Sweden) and Southern Youth String Orchestra (Spain). The programme opens with Brahms’ lush second movement from his Clarinet Sonata No. 2, followed by a selection of songs for soprano and piano. Ending the evening will be a String Quartet by Johan Wikmanson, a Swedish composer/organist mostly remembered for his five string quartets which were published after 1800. Some surprises with Swedish folk music played on the key fiddle will also interject the musical programme and provide an extra element of entertainment for our audiences.
